Job description

Company Overview

Our client stands out as a prominent developer, proprietor, and operator of large-scale energy storage initiatives throughout North America. Positioned at the forefront of the rapidly expanding battery energy storage market, our projects play a pivotal role in ushering in a cleaner and more dependable future for the nation's electric grid. Offering essential services such as reliable fast-ramping capacity, energy supply, and ancillary grid services, including support for integrating renewable energy, our storage projects serve major utilities.

As an independently owned entity, our client is a key player in the U.S. energy storage sector, boasting a robust 15+ gigawatt-hour (GWh) pipeline. This encompasses approximately 1.7 GWh of projects either in operation, under construction, or in advanced development through contracts with utilities and other power purchasers. Headquartered in California, our client maintains a presence with dedicated employees across various regions in the United States. Our diverse management team brings together decades of expertise in renewable energy, utilities, and the independent power sectors.

This presents an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals to join a high-performing team and gain in-depth exposure to the rapidly growing energy storage industry.

  • Collaborate with commercial optimization personnel to maintain relationships with key buyers of energy storage services, including utilities, community choice aggregators, coops, munis, and power marketing firms.
  • Prepare and respond to RFP solicitations in collaboration with the finance, construction, and commercial groups.
  • Lead M&A opportunity evaluation, diligence, and transactions in conjunction with finance, construction, and commercial teams.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, with an MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of work experience in the power and utilities industry, with a preference for energy storage experience.
  • Experience in developing and managing greenfield development projects in NYISO, SPP, and MISO, including site selection, negotiation of site control, grid interconnection applications, permitting management, proposal submissions, and financial modeling.
  • Knowledge of wholesale power markets.
  • Solid understanding of energy project economics, with quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills.
  • Ability to succinctly present complex information.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-directed, and diligent with a sense of urgency.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented.
  • Curious with a willingness to delve into details and conduct independent research to solve problems.
