My client is a rapidly growing, grid-scale energy storage developer, owner and operator backed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management (“GSAM”). This business acquires, develops and operates stand-alone battery storage, and wind/solar projects in markets across North America.
You will work closely with the management team to manage large complex utility-scale energy storage projects in uniquely situated locations. You will be given significant responsibility across the full project execution lifecycle within a growing, entrepreneurial business and help accomplish our goal to build at the GWh scale.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Manage the execution of one or more energy storage projects including scope, schedule, cost, quality, vendor management, permitting, and other aspects
- Manage external vendors including EPC’s, engineering firms, permit consultants, fire safety consultants, and others
- Take a lead in negotiating EPC and relevant project contracts, including commercial terms, scope of work, schedule and other items to meet project requirements
- Responsible for assembling project plans and assignments, directing and monitoring plan of the day efforts, identifying resource needs, performing quality review and escalating issues appropriately
- Coordinate communication with all areas of the organization that impacts scope, budget, risk and resources of the work
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take a positive action and accountability for their work
- Help to develop and grow business relationships, including relationships with EPCs, engineering firms, consultants, local AHJ and others
- Ensure all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures are followed
- Develop internal project management processes and standards
- Perform other responsibilities as needed
Skills & Experience:
- 4 years of prior project management experience in the renewable energy industry, a plus if 2+ years in battery energy storage projects (100MWh+ a bonus)
- Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil) degree preferred
- Passion for renewable energy industry and curiosity to learn
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible, creative and entrepreneurial mindset
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Ability to interact and build relationships with a wide variety of people
- Strong capabilities in project management tools (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheets, etc.)
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to domestic locations as needed
