Role

Our client's Western Region Federal Operations & Maintenance Group is in search of a proficient and seasoned Regional Operations Manager to supervise the effective operation and maintenance of Ameresco-owned and/or operated assets, including Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The preferred candidate should demonstrate a solid foundation in Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC) and Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), as well as expertise in PV and energy storage technologies, operations, and maintenance management. Moreover, they should bring a proactive approach to ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. This role will report directly to the Director of Operations & Maintenance for the Federal West region.

Skills

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and personnel, ensuring smooth functioning, monitoring, and maintenance activities.
  • Lead Program Management efforts to maintain service quality metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) within Operations & Maintenance programs.
  • Manage inventory for both Ameresco and customer assets, including fleet vehicles.
  • Prepare cost estimates and proposals for various projects.
  • Execute manufacturer’s DAS systems, including training, installation, and API integration.
  • Formulate strategies to optimize Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC) and Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) for enhanced PV and energy storage performance, maximizing efficiency, and reducing downtime.
  • Coordinate and schedule routine maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs to ensure system reliability and longevity.
  • Generate detailed reports on energy generation for utility providers and internal stakeholders for billing purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements governing PV and energy storage operations.
  • Manage a team of operations personnel, offering guidance, training, and support to maintain high performance and adherence to safety standards.
  • Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to procure necessary equipment, parts, and services essential for maintenance and operations.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive expertise in electric power plant operations and maintenance, encompassing PV, diesel, BESS, MV, gas and steam turbine technologies, control systems, and pertinent industry standards.
  • Possession of certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or NABCEP credentials like PVIP, PVMS, or ESIP.
  • Proven leadership acumen, including adept coaching, mentoring, supervision, and decision-making abilities to effectively manage and inspire diverse teams.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills coupled with a proactive approach in addressing operational obstacles.
  • Exceptional communication aptitude facilitating seamless collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in MS Office and CMMS Software, with expertise in data analysis tools and techniques for performance evaluation, diagnosis, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and environmental laws governing energy sector plant operations and maintenance.
  • Adaptability to extended or on-call hours to support ongoing operational and maintenance tasks.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management within the PV, battery energy storge or renewable energy industry.

Salary

$150-$225k base plus bonus
