NERC CIP Manager- Southern California Base

Job description

Our client is an expanding environmentally-conscious developer and operator of large-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects across California, New York, and Texas. This role entails supporting the company’s CIP Compliance initiatives. In this role, you will work under general supervision to develop, implement, and support the NERC CIP Compliance programs for solar, battery energy storage systems, and wind energy.

Responsibilities include the development, implementation, oversight, and reporting of company-wide NERC CIP Compliance programs. The individual will directly implement NERC CIP policies and procedures and provide active support to Site Managers.

This full-time hybrid position primarily involves remote work with occasional visits to facilities in Southern California (Mojave, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside County). Potential projects in New York or Texas may require periodic travel to those locations. This role is pivotal within the company's NERC Compliance team.

Qualifications

  • Execute and support the NERC CIP compliance program.
  • Establish internal controls for CIP.
  • Manage self-certifications, data submissions, and evidence for NERC CIP compliance audits.
  • Lead compliance investigations, document root cause analysis, submit self-reports, and develop mitigation plans.
  • Oversee and act as Subject Matter Expert for NERC compliance audits.
  • Recommend procedures, standards, and guidelines for NERC CIP compliance programs.
  • Provide training and guidance on NERC CIP standards and requirements.
  • Assist project managers in designing and maintaining procedures related to NERC compliance.
  • Collaborate with project and construction site managers to manage and address potential risks and compliance issues.
  • Stay updated with changes to NERC CIP standards.
  • Manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines.
  • Conduct inspections and audits as directed on company sites.
  • Periodic overnight travel to job sites and meetings may be required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency in MS Office and SharePoint.
  • Experience in cybersecurity, physical security, regulatory compliance, and auditing practices.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to develop and deliver written policies and procedures.
  • Excellent project management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with a commitment to fostering a compliance culture.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, preferably in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in utility, cybersecurity, physical security, network, compliance, regulatory, or related field.
  • Three to five years of compliance experience working with NERC CIP Reliability Standards required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in identifying potential problems and developing corrective action plans.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

IT or Cybersecurity certifications such as GIAC, ISACA, or (ISC)2.

Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST or ISO.

Experience in regulated environments such as NERC CIP, SOX, or NIST.
