Qualifications:

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, open-floor environment and work effectively within a team.
  • 5-10 years of experience as a real-time trader.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • MBA or graduate degree(s) are a plus.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts (day or night) as part of a 24-hour operation.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills for independent research and analysis.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and conceptual thinking.
  • Ability to make prompt decisions and communicate market opportunities effectively.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, self-discipline, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite.
  • Goal-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving defined outcomes.
  • Experience with any of the following markets is desirable: CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM, NYISO, and/or ISONE.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide coverage for all real-time markets within designated jurisdictions.
  • Support trading of physical assets, loads, and various transaction types.
  • Execute timely real-time actions in accordance with NERC, RTO/ISO procedures.
  • Implement intraday strategies to optimize resources, manage deviations, and capture value.
  • Manage NERC tagging functions and transmission procurement.
  • Analyze and interpret power and fuel market fundamentals, including generation, load, transmission, congestion, natural gas supply, and regulatory developments.
  • Maximize portfolio value through bidding, trading, and hedging strategies in line with client's risk management guidelines.
  • Evaluate energy transactions to ensure compliance with the client's Risk Management Policy.
  • Monitor market information to identify trading opportunities.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with relevant authorities and entities to ensure system reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and industry trading policies and reporting requirements.
