Position Overview:
- Offer expertise in energy risk management, asset valuation, deal structuring, and quantitative modeling across implementation projects, software pilots, sales demonstrations, and internal contexts.
- Guide users on optimizing the cQuant Analytics Platform for modeling intricate deal structures, assets, and contracts while exploring innovative applications of existing features.
- Act as a conduit between energy market practitioners and quantitative modeling teams, fostering knowledge exchange.
- Translate customer requirements into detailed analytical specifications for implementation by the quantitative development team.
- Become proficient in energy analytics software platforms, providing methodological training and support directly to users.
- Lead project teams in validating analytical enhancements through targeted testing to ensure alignment with analytical, business, and performance criteria.
- Mentor and oversee Energy Analyst team members, ensuring efficient task management and development.
- Communicate timelines and client expectations effectively to facilitate successful feature updates by the development team.
Required Skills and Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of wholesale renewable energy and battery storage analytics, including expertise in power purchase agreements and associated contracting structures.
- Proficiency in valuation and risk management strategies for thermal generation assets, with a nuanced understanding of operational characteristics and constraints.
- Strong grasp of United States wholesale electricity markets, regional dynamics, and their impact on asset value and risk.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a consultative approach to advising clients on asset valuation, risk management, and portfolio optimization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for pivot tables, ad hoc data analysis, and report-quality visualizations.
- Experience in managing and mentoring junior team members in internal and external projects.
- Ability to thrive independently or within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with R or Python for data wrangling and analysis.
Education and Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in the energy industry, focusing on risk management, asset valuation, deal structuring, or energy trading.
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, quantitative finance, economics, statistics, computer science, or physics.
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary Range: $130,000 - $175,000 plus bonus
