We are currently seeking an Asset Manager to join our Boston-based Asset Management team in support of our expanding generation services business. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the mechanics of North American ISO markets and a strong technical background. They must be client-focused and demonstrate collaborative capabilities across the Commercial, Risk, Business Development, Finance, and Trading teams within The Company.
Responsibilities:
- Optimize the energy and capacity value of a diverse portfolio of natural gas, wind, solar, energy storage, hydro generation assets, and load.
- Develop daily offer strategies to optimize daily gross margin and mitigate outage and congestion risks in coordination with external clients.
- Manage daily fuel procurement and OBA accounts.
- Prepare reports and projections (P&L, MtM, potential collateral, GM, GMaR, etc.).
- Model third-party asset dispatch, value, and risk, including the impact of risk mitigation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, programs, rules, and contracts.
- Oversee the daily unit commitment process.
- Analyze power, congestion, gas, and related markets.
- Co-optimize a load and generation portfolio.
Qualifications:
- Strong quantitative and analytics background, preferably related to one or more financial markets.
- Understanding of physical and financial electricity, congestion, natural gas, emissions, coal, REC, and market design in at least one of the following North American ISOs: PJM, CAISO, NYISO, MISO, SPP, ISO-NE, or ERCOT.
- Robust oral and written communication skills, capable of supporting third-party asset decision-making by developing and presenting complex information, including market views over the phone.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong focus on compliance with ISO market rules and the regulations governing North American physical and financial energy markets.
- Two (2) years of prior experience managing generation assets or load in one of the North American ISOs.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative-related field or equivalent quantitative analytical experience.
- Experience with Python, SQL, Visual Basic desired.
- Familiarity with capacity markets in at least one North American ISO is desired.
