Role Summary: We are seeking a Generation Dispatcher to manage the real-time operations of our generation assets and execute strategies to optimize our real-time energy positions.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate unit availability, outage schedules, startup and shutdown times, and communicate necessary information to plant personnel, ISOs, and day-ahead traders.
- Take or direct timely and appropriate real-time actions in accordance with ISO procedures.
- Communicate actively with the Asset Management group to maximize value and minimize risk for energy management clients.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of ISO tariffs, manuals, policies, and procedures governing generator dispatch.
- Comply with applicable NERC Reliability Standards.
- Monitor and analyze market information to identify dispatching opportunities.
- Evaluate energy transactions to ensure compliance with our Risk Management Policy, including aspects like energy price, transmission, counterparty, and contractual terms.
- Complete and maintain necessary PJM Generation Operator certification and continuing education requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, finance, or a related field/experience.
- At least 1 year of real-time generation dispatching experience, or potential to hire a candidate with limited experience as an entry-level dispatcher.
- Proficiency in mathematics and technical concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make appropriate decisions under time constraints.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work a 12-hour shift schedule as part of a 24/7 operation.
