Role

  • Coordination and review of tax returns filings prepared by multiple service providers; taxes in scope are federal and state income taxes for partnerships and corporations, property and real estate taxes, sales and use taxes, franchise and occupational license taxes, FIRPTA, 1099, employer taxes and other taxes relevant to multi-jurisdictional nature of the business
  • Reviewing tax returns against original partnership investment models in inverted lease and other types of partnership structures
  • Managing tax payments
  • Managing fiscal and investor tax compliance calendar
  • Managing tax distributions to partners
  • Tracking all tax exemptions programs and ensure compliance under those programs
  • Managing communications from tax authorities
  • Coordinating with outside advisors in connection with key strategic projects and tax planning initiatives, including tax diligence review for the projects under development
  • Coordinating annual nexus reviews for income tax and sales and use tax
  • Preparing tax accounting provisions for several affiliates
  • Reviewing HLBV models prepared by external parties
  • Understanding federal and state tax incentives programs for solar developers and operators
  • Coordinating tax compliance provisions from M&A transactions, including purchase price allocation
  • Identifying and implementing tax savings opportunities
  • Performing ad hoc tax research and providing guidance to internal teams
  • Developing state-level tax guidance summaries for development and asset management teams in key states
  • Building relationships with colleagues in accounting, asset management, development and other teams to understand business financial performance, transactions executed and any other significant operating activity within the company and the funds under management.


Required Experience


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree in Taxation strongly preferred
  • CPA a plus
  • 7+ years of related experience, preferably in Big 4, corporate settings or renewable energy companies
  • Experience with partnership taxation in renewable energy or real estate preferred
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Self-starter willing to take a hands-on role
  • Strong collaboration and relationship skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • High standards for accuracy and work produced


Location


This is a full-time hybrid role and will be based in our Washington, DC office (relocation offered)


Salary


$130,000 - $160,000 plus bonus
