Our client is a well-established Energy Trader with an impressive track record & over a decade in the US markets. The business has a successful asset portfolio as well as a prop-trading division which has a strong fundamental & quant approach to trading. The company operates assets across gas, renewables & energy storage. They also supply wholesale energy services to retail suppliers


Some information about the role:


As a Senior Trader you will be part of an exciting & growing sector of the business. You will have the opportunity to work alongside the Research, Origination & Asset Optimization business with the intention of generating trade strategies. You will lead the Western Power business and be responsible for overall direction, capital deployment & profit generation.


Ideal Skills:


  • Proven experience in running a desk with the ability & vision to build, run and manage a trade desk is essential
  • Extensive spot and term trading experience in Western power (CAISO, AESO, Mid-C, Palo Verde) and natural gas (SoCal, PG&E, Malin, Sumas, AECO) markets with forwards, swaps, options in directional and spread (time, basis, HRCO, Spark) products with ability to develop and successfully execute trading strategies
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of the US Power / Energy markets is essential
  • Ability to work with a number of different key teams simultaneously - risk, research, origination, asset optimization etc


Qualifications:


  • 8-10+ years experience in trading US energy markets & ideally running a desk
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of US Power / Energy markets, any coding / quant experience would also be a plus
  • Demonstrable track record in managing significant levels of risk
  • Experience in driving & leading new trading strategies/initiatives
  • Excellent written & verbal skills
